Review: Shiseido The Makeup Perfecting Lipstick Red Cool

I'm a huge fan of Shiseido, both cosmetics and skin care products. The Makeup Perfecting Lipstick was launched in 2004 and Red Cool is my favourite lipstick since then. I also have some other colours from this range. The lipstick is described as "Translucent Red Pigment and Dual-Optimizing Powder ensure that lip color stays true and luminous under any condition, while the Satin Smooth Pearl and Super Hydro-Wrap Vitalizing DE infuse lips with generous hydrators for supple and smooth lips with every application."

Shiseido The Makeup Perfecting Lipstick has a narrow point at the top which makes it easy to apply without lip liner. It is non-drying and long-wearing (up to 5-6 hours). It transfers, however lasts through a cup of coffee. It is really moisturising, so you don't need to prep your lips before. I apply even on dried lips and after a few minutes lips seem pretty moisturised and smooth. Have I said this lipstick is my favourite?

Red Cool applies evenly and easily, without the need of a lip liner. However, if you want to use a lip liner, I highly recommend Shiseido The Makeup Automatic Lip Crayon LC10. The lipstick is very pigmented and provides full coverage. It has a creamy texture and lustre finish. It also adds fullness to the way your lips look. It feels silky on the lips and not heavy.

Everything about this product is fantastic, the colour is rich, the texture is creamy but not heavy and the lipstick wears five to six hours with ease.

General overview

As a person who's addicted to lip stuff, I have loads of lip care products, lipsticks and lip glosses. I have two lip liners, red and colourless, both of which are Shiseido The Makeup Automatic Lip Crayon. The colourless one is like pale violet on lips. Even though lip glosses are very handy, I love lipsticks more because you can use them in many ways. I rarely use lipstick from bullet because I mix different colours or mix with lip balm to lighten the colour. Because dark colours aren't sold as much as the others, if there's an offer or a discount on lip products, they are usually dark coloured ones. I buy them and make lighter using a colourless lip balm -I use Nivea hydro or essential care, both are colourless, non-shiny and they don't have strong fragrance. I also like lip palettes, quicker to mix colours with a good brush. I use e.l.f.'s retractable lip brush.

Labelling

When a lip product finishes, I don't throw cases if I haven't bought the new one yet. Then I put a yellow label if I didn't like the product, orange label if I'm neutral, green label if I'm satisfied, purple label if I like and blue label if I love. I know this sounds a bit weird for a person who says she's lazy doing make-up but there's a point. Making a list would be much easier but you may not find the same colour from the same brand. They discontinue some colours or sometimes even whole range or make little changes of colours or features. When I go shopping I take those cases with me, so it's much easier to find the very same product. I wish I had started labelling before, I can't still find the bright light pink lipstick I used ten years ago.

Lips lips lips...

I usually describe myself active, dynamic and lively but when it comes to make-up, I am really lazy. I never put on primer and foundation, well, this is mostly because I prefer not to. I have some basic touch-ups before I go out -I'll tell about them later- and try to keep loyal to them. If I don't have even five minutes for the basics, say I have to reach speed of light soon, there's one thing I do; wearing lipstick. Some girls love eye make-up, some complexion and me, lipstick. I've always loved trying different lip products from my teenage years and now I have some collection.

When I search for a product, I try to find swatches and read basic information and reviews. Even though it's easy to find reviews, it is not always easy to find the basic information like ingredients, smell, texture etc all in one place. Here, I plan to bring them altogether and create a lipstick encyclopedia. It will also be like keeping records of my lip products for me so you may see some discontinued lip products but don't get angry with me, it's an encyclopedia after all.
